Dubbed "The Greatest Jazz Festival at Sea," the Jazz Cruise promises a jam-packed schedule featuring 100 jazz musicians. Dianne Reeves, Shelly Burg and Christian McBride are some of the famous faces you might see onboard. The fully chartered sailing has been cruising for almost two decades, and it features a festival-style schedule with multiple performances happening at the same time. Though it dominates the jazz and adult music genre presented on Botti at Sea, it has also produced cruises that feature rock, country, gospel, pop music and more.
Back To Sea Sailing
Music theme cruises with mellow pianists, instrumental performances, R&B crooners and cool-as-ice jazz vocalists are ample. In developing the programming and vision for the first sailing of the cruise, Chris was “hands on” lending his take on performers, shows, guest events and more. The Jazz Cruise knows him best as the most influential person in the history and development of the program. From the start (2001), Houston has been the heart and soul of the cruise, offering his music in a style that makes everyone happy.

The Country Music Cruise
More than 23 years later, The Jazz Cruise remains the only full ship charter of that theme and is the standard by which all music charters are measured. This popular music theme cruise features dozens of smooth-jazz artists onboard each sailing, plus plenty of chances to rub elbows with stars of the subgenre. In addition to activities like artist-hosted excursions and theme parties, a robust range of daily live performances is on the schedule. The Smooth Jazz Cruise is fully chartered and typically sets sail a few times a year. No luxury cruise program would be complete without cocktails, wine, and food.

THE ULTIMATE TRADITIONAL JAZZ CRUISE
The main shows are performed in the majestic Theatre, which comfortably holds half of the guests on board. The other half of the guests dine first and then attend the 2nd Show. Main Show Schedules are determined when a Reservation is completed and is reflected in the color of each Guest’s Cruise Identification Card (BLUE or RED). Have you ever wanted to see your favorite Artists compete against each other in a Family Feud style gameshow? Or perhaps participate in the annual Boney James vs. Brian Culbertson Ping-Pong tournament on the pool deck? These are just a couple of the events that take place over the course of The Smooth Jazz Cruise.
NYC Jazz Cruise
The Jeff Hamilton Trio featuring Tamir Hendelman and John Hamar, has been a pillar of The Jazz Cruise for nearly two decades. For years, Jeff has served as the untitled co-producer of The Jazz Cruise aiding our staff with insights and ideas that have made The Jazz Cruise so special. Kevin has written scores for both TV movies and full-length independent feature films and he’s appeared on various TV shows from Hollywood Squares to Celebrity Family Feud (with his sister and two brothers!). He has taught at the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp, the Banff School and Rutgers University, as well as hosting master classes at many colleges and universities. In addition to concert touring, Kevin has begun presenting at conferences around the country not only as a musician but also as a motivational speaker to people of all ages.
The musicians themselves call the program “Straight-Ahead Jazz Heaven”. Late night allows us to open an entirely new and very exciting venue. After dinner, The Cosmopolitan Restaurant becomes a lovely late-night, cabaret-style music venue. Special drinks and food are available while you sit in luxury and enjoy entertainment ranging from comedy to music to dancing. The cruise, which has earned the title of “The Greatest Party at Sea,” transports everyone to a place of true camaraderie, inclusion, and respect. The guests motivate the musicians, who, in turn, up their game to further excite the guests.
Ports of call include Ibiza, Alicante, Malaga, Casablanca and Seville. In choosing a ship for The Jazz Cruise, several factors are considered. The quality of the ship’s accommodations, services, food, and staff are all key factors. Driven by our focus on presenting “The Greatest Straight-Ahead Jazz Festival at Sea” in the finest possible manner, we focus heavily on the size, number, and variety of the ship’s performance venues. Several ships have very nice main theaters, but, as our guests know, our music is presented throughout the ship, so the size and number of secondary venues is also important. Alonzo Bodden, winner of Last Comic Standing and Jazz Cruises’ Comedian-in-Chief, will perform his hilarious show for an additional two nights of late-night entertainment and laughs.
Since 2004, The Smooth Jazz Cruise has been the gold standard, not only for jazz cruises, but for all theme and music charter cruises. In addition to more than 40 live performances, entertainment will include dance and costume parties, theme nights, dance contests and game shows. Passengers will appreciate the opportunity to go behind the music as artists sit for intimate Q&A sessions, panel discussions and meet-and-greets.
This upward spiral continues for 7 days and 7 nights, resulting in an immersive music and cultural experience that has created life-changing relationships among guests, musicians, and staff. The cruise will feature days filled with concerts, artist Q&A sessions, panel discussions and game shows. Prices for ShipRocked's 2025 cruise start at $1,600 per person for an inside cabin.
